Hope

As we head into 2020 we will no doubt be inundated with posts and videos about resolutions, goals, dreams, motivation, and the like. These things are good and necessary as we need to have something in the future that drives us. Growth, after all is the essence of life. But as you reflect on this past year and look to the year ahead, rather than focusing on something the motivates you, what is something that gives you hope? What is one thing that, looking back encouraged you that tomorrow could be brighter than today; what was it that gave you hope in 2019?

Once you've found that, allow your hope to be carried forward; view your hope through the lens of the future and allow yourself to discover what it is about 2020 that gives you hope. What is something inside of you, something preferably within your realm of control that gives you hope for a joyous tomorrow? Is it those long fought plans coming to fruition? The careful brick by brick of a goal that will at last fall into place? Or perhaps a long held dream that will finally descend out of the ether to materialize in your hand?

I know which one it is for me. And that's the beautiful thing about hope; it doesn't have to be this large, gigantic thing. Hope and that strongest of hope at that is often found in the smallest of things.

So, as 2019 closes down around and 2020 opens wide with new triumphs and tragedies, new struggles and victories, new dreams, possibilities, and realms not yet imagined, find your hope and cling to it with all your heart.
